Pastel

Here is another favorite Brazilian snack--pastel. It is a deep-fried envelope of stuffings of ground beef or hearts of palm or cheese, etc.

This is a box of 50 mini-pastels, half ground-beef and half cheese. It costs R$23. That was our dinner for 6.

My Brazilian friends do not know who invented pastel, Chinese or Japanese!!
