Houses in Brazil

Houses here are mostly fenced with high walls. Some even have electric wires. I saw a few with cracked glasses on top of the walls. High rises have security managing the entrances. There are many Gated communities for the richer. As you can see, crime is one big concern for the people here.
Most middle income family homes have washer for clothes. But they still hang their clothes under the sun. Cooking stoves and ovens are fueled by butane. Everyday, I can hear a truck drives by broadcasting to refill butane like an ice cream truck. Once in a while, peddlers sell fruits door to door.
Most houses don't have grass area. Front and back yards are mostly tiled with a few spots for plants and flowers.
It reminds me of my boyhood days in Hong Kong.
In the major cities, prime property prices can match those in North America. In small cities and towns, one still can buy a house very cheap.
It is common for people to own beach properties. Going to the beach is Brazilians favorite pastime.
Next week, I'll be writing from our beach apartment in ITANHAÉM.
